Chapter 3 Test: Question #15

Having gone through Kate’s process of determining the acceleration, which is also the second derivative, we now know that the equation for the acceleration is:

In order to find the acceleration in meters per second at time(t) = 3 seconds, we simply plug in 3 for the t-value:

Then, of course, we simplify:

Eventually, we’ll find that the acceleration at 3 seconds is -36 meters/second.
